About the
Advanced AIDS Certified Registered Nurse Credential
The HIV/AIDS Nursing Certification
Board is pleased to announce the opportunity
to become certified in Advanced HIV/AIDS
Nursing Practice.
Who is
eligible?
If you are:
1.
a registered nurse
2.
with a master’s degree or higher in nursing
3.
have a minimum of three years of experience as a registered nurse
4.
and have a minimum of 2,000 hours of advanced HIV/AIDS
nursing practice in the past five years,
you are eligible
to take the certification examination. Nursing experience may be
in the areas of nursing administration, clinical practice, education or
research. For specific eligibility requirements, please carefully
review the handbook for candidates.
When will the
exam be administered?
The 2008 administration of the AACRN exam will be March 29 through April 12, 2008. The deadline to register for this exam offering is February 28 ,
2008. The second administration will be October 11 through October 25, 2008 with the
deadline for registering September 1, 2008.
How should I
study for the examination?
The practice of advanced HIV/AIDS nursing is dynamic and based on an ever changing body of specialty knowledge. Therefore, HANCB does not endorse any specific reference materials. However, a list of resources applicable to advanced HIV/AIDS nursing practice is available in the examination handbook.
