Carol has been involved in HIV/AIDS nursing since mid-1980. She managed the first HIV/AIDS unit, in Brooklyn, New York, plus overflow beds in the hospital. She opened and closed the facility HIV/AIDS unit (10 years. In the early days of HIV, Carol was involved in training physicians/healthcare providers in HIV/AIDS testing throughout the New York City area. After leaving inpatient care, she worked for an insurance company case managing HIV/AIDS patients. Carol retired from active nursing in 2012, but remains active with the local Greater NY chapter of ANAC, with national ANAC and HANCB.
Carol was one of the first nurses to take the ACRN exam and has kept up her certification ever since. Carol has always encouraged nurses to become certified and take the HIV/AIDS certification.
