Karen graduated from Syracuse University School of Nursing in 1972 and obtained a Masters in Nursing as a Gerontological Clinical Specialist, from University of Maryland School of Nursing, in 1980. She started working in HIV/AIDS care in 1985, at the Baltimore Veterans Medical Center, and has been working with this population ever since. She coordinates an outpatient ID/HIV clinic were patients with HIV are provided both primary and specialty care. Karen is grateful to have been a part of the response to this devastating epidemic which not only shaped her nursing career but allowed her to know and care for so many veterans and their families. Karen obtained her ACRN in 2004 and is honored to have been a member of the HANCB since 2013.
