Dr. De Santis is an Assistant Professor at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies in Coral Gables, Florida. He is a pediatric nurse practitioner who maintains a faculty practice with the UM Miller School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology. Dr. De Santis has been involved in the care of clients with HIV infection since 2000. He has lectured nationally and internationally on topics related to the care of HIV-infected clients and their families. He has published articles and book chapters on HIV care topics.

Dr. De Santis is a member of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care and Sigma Theta Tau International. He is the current President of the Metro-Miami ANAC and is a faculty counselor for the Beta Tau Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. His research interests focus on HIV prevention in Hispanic men and care of clients with HIV infection from vulnerable populations.
