Susan Gaskins, DSN, MPH, RN, ACRN

Dr. Susan Gaskins received her BSN from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond , Virginia , her MPH from the University of Pittsburgh and her DSN from the University of Alabama at Birmingham . She is a professor at the Capstone College of Nursing at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa . She teaches Community/Public Health Nursing and the Research Practicum in the graduate program. Her research interests include disparities and psychosocial responses to HIV Disease, especially disclosure. Currently she is working on a study entitled Stigma in Older African Americans Living with HIV/AIDS. Dr. Gaskins became certified as an ACRN in 1997, and is currently serving her second term on the HIV/AIDS Nursing Certification Board. She has served on the JANAC Editorial Advisory Board and the Nominating Committee for ANAC.
