Dr. Trimble is an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. She recently completed her PhD in nursing from Texas Woman’s University. She is both a women’s health care nurse practitioner and a family nurse practitioner, maintaining certification in both specialties. Dr. Trimble maintains a clinical practice in HIV and community health at Houston Area Community Services, Inc. in Houston, TX. She has cared for HIV-infected persons for the last 13 years of her 27-year career as a nurse practitioner. Dr. Trimble has lectured nationally and locally on topics related to the care of HIV-infected clients and their families. She has taught HIV-related topics to professionals in Tanzania and South Africa. Additionally she has co-authored articles and book chapters on HIV-related topics. Dr. Trimble is a member of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care and Sigma Theta Tau International. She has served as a Director-at-Large for two terms on the board of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, as a past-president of her local chapter. Her research interests are focused on HIV and women’s issues such as inner strength, domestic abuse and treatment adherence.
